To Whom It May Concern:
Enter Omnitek. Our parent company at the
time, Trade Service Corporation (now a
division of I2 Technologies), had outsourced
some publication work through Omnitek and
suggested that we send them the RFP. Three
days later, we were visited by Omnitek's
Ashok Dudakia and Ganapathy Subramanian from
Swatee in Chennai, India. They visited our
offices to view our daily production
processes, asked pointed questions gleaned
from their reading of the RFP and left
promising us a bid within 48 hours. Time was
of the essence as their visit came in early
1999 and there was very little time
remaining.
Omnitek returned a contract proposal two
days later. Their bid was not only
significantly lower than our local
developers, but they guaranteed that their
would be no cost overruns. For a small
business like ours, it was a perfect match.
Our parent company was dubious that Omnitek
would be able to complete the project on
time, but gave the project the green light
just the same.
The next 11 months consisted of long hours
for both Teams in India and Today's Racing
Digest, but the partnership worked well from
beginning to end. The team assigned to our
project was in constant communication with
us and the project rarely veered off course.
Despite completely revamping our table
structure, adding many new programs and
rewriting every line of code, we were able
to begin parallel testing 10 months later
and made the cutover to the new system on
Dec 22, 1999. India's production team stayed
on-line every day during the first two weeks
and helped us learn the new system. By the
middle of January, the system was running
smoothly and our staff was trained and up to
date on all of the new procedures.
In the interim, we have received excellent
(and reasonably-priced) support from the
staff at Omnitek/Swatee. We have also
completed two more smaller projects and will
continue to use them for our software needs.
Ours has been an excellent experience and
the credit goes to the Omnitek and Swatee,
as the lines of communication have always
been excellent and the attention to detail
superior.
